Data collected
Depending on how you use the service, we process in particular:
- account data (email address, encrypted password, public username);
- if you choose “Continue with Facebook”: Facebook identifier, name, email address and profile photo provided by Meta, through Supabase Auth (email and public_profile permissions); the link to your Facebook profile may be stored when provided, in order to display a verified-profile badge;
- first-login journey information: username, first name and last name (required to complete registration); introduction and city / department are optional at this step;
- other profile information you may complete (gender, date of birth, family situation, spoken languages, allergies, introduction, city, motorcycle license, interests, motorcycles, profile photo, Facebook groups you say you belong to, public visibility settings, unsolicited messaging preference); to send an accommodation request, first name, last name, city and introduction are required;
- referral, if any (identifier of the member who invited you), if you sign up through a referral link;
- accommodation content (title, description, amenities, photos, private address, exact coordinates stored securely, contact methods chosen for the stay, unavailability periods);
- stay requests (dates, number of people, message, status);
- “Who can host me?” calls (destination, radius, dates, message, status) and related offers;
- private messages and community room messages (text, an attached photo where applicable, emoji reactions, quoted replies);
- reviews left after a completed stay (thumbs up or down, optional comment);
- in-app notifications related to your activity;
- if you install the application (PWA): a technical device identifier to count installations (internal statistics, no advertising);
- if you enable push notifications (My account → Preferences): the Web Push subscription of your device (endpoint and technical keys), used only to alert you about service events (requests, messages, stays) and, where applicable, news if you have also consented by email;
- reports and blocks (profiles, conversations or behaviors reported);
- approximate location data displayed on the map (city or municipality centroid, never the exact address);
- technical data (server logs, session cookies, IP address when logging in);
- aggregated browsing statistics (pages viewed, device type, browser, approximate country, referring page), through our audience measurement tool.
Purposes
Your data is used to:
- create, authenticate and manage your account;
- connect hosts and travelers and track requests;
- publish and answer “Who can host me?” calls;
- share the exact address and the chosen contact methods only during an accepted stay;
- enable private messaging and community rooms between members, according to the rules described in the terms of use;
- collect and display reviews after a stay;
- send service-related notifications (in-app and, if you enable them, push); new private messages trigger an in-app / push notification, not an email;
- send Entre Motards news only if you have consented (optional box at registration or setting in My account → Emails); you can unsubscribe at any time through the link in each news email or from My account;
- ensure security, moderation and abuse reporting;
- reply to your requests (contact);
- measure the audience of the website and the application to improve the service;
- comply with our legal obligations.
Location and address
Your exact address is never displayed publicly. On the map and on public pages, only an approximate geographic area (city or municipality) is visible.
The precise address of the accommodation is only accessible to the parties to an accepted request, for the duration of the stay. Once the stay is marked as completed, this address is no longer displayed in the interface. Contact then takes place through messaging and, where applicable, the methods chosen by the host.
Profile visibility
From My account → Privacy, you can set which elements are visible on your public page depending on the audience (logged-in members / visitors without an account): first and last name, location, gender, age, family situation, languages, allergies, introduction, motorcycles, and so on. Your date of birth is never displayed: only the calculated age can be, if you allow it. Reviews, your journey on the platform, the accommodation offered and your registration date always remain visible. Default settings make the other elements visible; you can restrict them at any time.
In the same tab, you can allow or refuse to receive unsolicited messages (outside a stay; option on by default). This choice is saved on your profile and is used only to apply the exchange rule described in the terms of use. It does not prevent messaging tied to an accepted request or a stay, nor a host writing to you while a request to them is still pending.
Legal basis
Processing relies on the performance of the contract (use of the platform), our legitimate interest (security, moderation, service improvement) and, where applicable, your consent (for example for certain visibility options, to allow unsolicited messages, or for news / marketing emails). Accepting the terms of use does not amount to consenting to marketing emails: that consent is collected separately and can be withdrawn at any time.
Retention period
Account data is kept for as long as your account is in use. You can delete your account at any time (My account → Security): this deletes your profile, your accommodation, requests, messages and associated files, subject to any legally required archives.
Photos attached to messages (private or rooms) are automatically deleted after 30 days.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability. To exercise your rights: contact@entremotards.fr.
You may lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority: cnil.fr.
Processors
We use the following providers, chosen for their compliance with data protection requirements:
- Supabase – authentication, PostgreSQL database, photo storage (avatars, accommodation, messaging photos);
- Vercel – hosting of the marketing website and the application (including temporary storage of some files);
- Resend – sending of transactional emails (stay requests, product alerts) and, where applicable, news emails if you have consented; no email for a new private message;
- Geographic services – search for addresses, cities and destinations (Google Places when the server key is available; otherwise the data.gouv.fr Address API / Photon-Komoot as a fallback); the map relies on OpenStreetMap through OpenFreeMap and MapLibre; road trip routes may use a road routing service (OSRM);
- Brandfetch – optional display of motorcycle brand logos in the interface (requests from your browser);
- Meta Platforms – when you use Facebook Login, Meta processes your authentication under its own policy; we only receive the data needed to create or resume your account (see above);
- Umami – audience measurement for the marketing website and the application, hosted by RENT A SITE at analytics.rentasite.fr (aggregated statistics, no advertising purpose);
- PostHog – minimal product analytics for the application (page views, clicks on buttons and links, a few business events), hosted in the European Union ( eu.posthog.com ), with no cookies or local storage, no Session Replay, and no transmission of your email or phone number;
- Sentry – monitoring of the application’s technical errors (diagnostics, no Session Replay); personal data is not sent by default.
Some of these providers may process data outside the European Union. Where applicable, appropriate safeguards (standard contractual clauses or equivalent) are in place.
Cookies and audience measurement
Only cookies strictly necessary for the operation of the site and the user session are used (notably Supabase authentication cookies). We do not use advertising cookies.
To understand how the site and the application are used, we use:
- Umami (hosted by RENT A SITE at analytics.rentasite.fr) for aggregated audience statistics (page views, device, browser, approximate country, referrer);
- PostHog (EU region) for minimal product analytics in the application (pages, clicks on interactive elements, business events), with no cookies or local storage in the browser.
This data is not used for targeted advertising, nor to identify you to third parties for commercial purposes.
The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in improving the service. You can object to this processing by writing to contact@entremotards.fr, or by configuring your browser to limit third-party scripts where relevant.
Beta phase
Entre Motards is offered as an open beta: changes and fixes may be made. This policy will be updated in case of a significant change in how your data is processed.
